Curry powder is a very aromatic mixture of various spices and there are as many recipes as there are cultural traditions and regions in the world. The word curry or cari is Western and originates primarily from the British colonial era. We obviously find this type of mixture in Indian cuisine, but also in Sri Lankan, Pakistani and Bangladeshi cuisine. Several cuisines from other Asian countries and islands in the Indian Ocean are inspired by it, as well as several former British colonies.
Curry obviously has different types in which we find Madras curry, Garam masala, Massala, massalé, Tandoori masala, balti... etc. And when we say masala, we simply and literally say the word mixture, so it does not refer to a specific recipe, but simply to a mixture of very rich spices which can be composed more or less of 8, 10 or even 14 spices.
Add all the spices in a small jar and mix.
